| I tanked the plenum to clean it up and hit it with an etching cleaner but that aluminum is difficult to get a bright natural luster from. After thoroughly cleaning it, I used some silver Dupli-Color high-temp engine enamel to "mist" some brightness back into it. I didn't lay any heavy coats at all though. Unless you use a quality basecoat and clearcoat, I wouldn't expect any rattlecan paint to really hold up well. Even the high-temp gloss paints in a can dull out in a matter of short time. Powdercoating or base/clear paint is going to be your best shot at getting a durable coat.
